Best Airport to Fly into Tokyo?

If you want to go to Japan, most probably, you are going to start with Tokyo. And, when you will search your flights for Tokyo, you will find two airports. Those are Narita International Airport (Short code NRT) and Haneda Airport (aka Tokyo International Airport, short code HND). So, which is the best airport to fly into Tokyo?

Which airport is better between Narita and Haneda?

Well, when I went to Japan for the first time, I was very confused about choosing between these two airports. I went there several more times afterward and I am not confused anymore.

For me, Haneda Airport is the best airport to fly into Tokyo and should be an automatic choice if the price of the air ticket is similar.

Why should you choose Haneda Airport over Narita Airport?

Narita Airport is about 70 KM from the Tokyo city center. It takes more than an hour to reach there. Furthermore, a ticket for going there costs you more.

On the other hand, Haneda is less than 20 KM from the city centre and can be reached in 30 minutes.

Needless to say, reaching to the city centre from Narita will cost you more.

And, in either case, use public transportation. If you don’t have a deep pocket, do not take a taxi or Uber from Narita. It will cost you around US$275. I won’t be surprised if you had a flight of 8 hours and paid the same amount!

Japan is a wonderfully unique country. Enjoy your time there!
