Landing at the Paro Airport in Bhutan

Bhutan is a mystic place, the land of the thunder dragon. This country is so different, you will be blown away by the simplicity of the people as well as its natural beauties. The only international airport in Bhutan is Paro Airport. It is a small airport where it’s national carrier Drukair (Royal Bhutan Airlines) operates. Only a few pilots of the world know the way to landing an aircraft in the beautiful Paro airport in Bhutan.

Video of Landing in Paro Airport in Bhutan

I made this video while Drukair was descending to Paro – just a moment before it’s landing. I was scared like shit during the landing. The plane literally started dancing 10 minutes before it landed. I thought it’s gonna crush! However, I saw the Bhutanese doing their regular work and realized that it’s normal. As the terrain is mountainous, the airplane needs to glide through the mountain and approach the runway through mountains.

Do you know that Bhutan is a carbon-negative country? It means that it produces more oxygen than it emits carbon. If it does not convince you to read my post, the greenery of this video might do it! See above to know how does a landing in the Paro Airport feel like.
