What is your dream destination?

Agra fort – a walled city

Agra fort is in Agra and Agra is a city. It's simple. However, from the moment I stood in front of it's gate and when I entered into the fort leaving the gate behind, it hit me. I am inside a city, a walled city! Agra fort was a city to me. My third destination in Agra was Agra fort, after the tomb of Itimad ud Daulah and Metab Bagh. This UNESCO world heritage site is gigantic. I was entering through Lahori gate. The name was given as you can go to Lahore in that direction. The other...

Inside the baby Tajmahal

Bali Muhammad is driving his three wheelers amidst dust and crowd of Agra. I am at his mercy right at this moment, he promised me to show Agra with whatever time we have in our hand. He broke his silence, and said that, our first destination will be the baby Taj! It is often said that, the idea of Tajmahal was inspired from the architecture of tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah. Wife of  Mughal emperor, Jahangir, Nur Jahan, commissioned to built it for the memory of his father Mirzā Ghiyās Beg. Title...

My first few moments in Agra

My train Jaipur Agra Fort Shatabdi Express reached Agra fort rail away station at 10:40 in the morning from Jaipur. When I stepped out from the railway station, a fear gripped me. Maybe because, I didn't have a good breakfast that morning? Or, I could not digest the dinner of last night properly resulting me in a bad sleep? Or, maybe, as soon as I stepped out of the train, one or two people started to chase me, shouting over each other to be introduced with me forcefully. It was alright till...

Baffled in Bangalore airport

I planned for a semi SAARC tour during December, 2015. As, I started from Dhaka, Bangladesh, I searched for some optimal air routes with best fare. I found out that, the most optimal routes to start would be to go to India through Kolkata, fly to Bengaluru in a domestic flight, see the town and head towards Sri Lanka and Maldives. The route was Bangladesh -> India -> Sri Lanka -> Maldives -> India -> Bhutan -> Dhaka This incident was during the very first part of my...
